McNary Clobbers Mountain View At Home

Mountain View came across the mountains from Bend to play McNary Saturday night, who is coming off a surprising loss to Sprague in overtime on Thursday. This was a match up that is a key game in their efforts to remain in the hunt for a conference title.

The game was off and running from the opening tip with both teams pushing pace of their fastbreaks and half court offenses. McNary was winning the battle early on, leading 12-6 thanks to some open shots and holes for easy close range shots. Mountain View, meanwhile, went cold from the field and were in an early 16-6 hole to the Celtics.

After a Mountain View timeout, the Cougars narrowed the lead back down to six, but their relaxed defense and offensive issues kept them from getting any closer in the first, with McNary leading 22-12 after the first.

In the second, McNary kept their rhythm, pulling out to a 14 point lead thanks to the Cougars issues on offense. Mountain View came out of a timeout just like the last one, capturing some small momentum and going on a 4-0 run to get back within ten. However, learning from the other night against Sprague, McNary turned up the heat on Mountain View and broke out into 46-27 halftime lead by clobbering the Cougars for their relaxed defense and offensive mistakes.

The second half was more of the same, with Mountain View’s defensive and offensive inconsistency haunting them against a lubricated Celtics team looking to get back on track. McNary ultimately won 74-60, holding off a small momentum run by the Cougars in the fourth quarter.

McNary travels to #2 South Salem Thursday, while Mountain View hosts Sprague Thursday.
